3 Tools You Might Need Before Attempting Your Next Beauty DIY

Somewhat inspired by my Hairapy 2013 journey (follow along here), I've taken (most of) my beauty routine back into my own hands. Don't get me wrong - I firmly believe in the necessary occasional brow shaping or mani/pedi appointment, and wholeheartedly believe in a routine facial, but there are some beauty treatments that we can totally DIY. Here are three tools you may not have in your arsenal, but will totally help the next time you decide to take beauty into your own hands.

Sally Hansen's The Brow Now

I'm sure that you already have a pair of tweezers (what beauty-invested girl doesn't), but do you have a brow shaper or scissors? The brow shaper, with a sharp blade, can help you coax your brows into the perfect shape, while the scissors are slanted and perfect for trimming some of those longer, unruly hairs. If you're serious about eyebrow maintenance (and why wouldn't you be?), this kit is a sound investment.

Sally Hansen's Do Your Do

Now, I'm not sure that I fully endorse cutting your hair at home, but I do have many a friend who has done it successfully. Plus, many ladies cut their own bangs at home, but I do hope you weren't someone who tried with their kitchen scissors. My mom used to be a hairstylist and I always grew up with cutting shears in the house, but if I had to run out and purchase them, I wouldn't have the foggiest idea where to look besides a super intimidating beauty supply store. Sally Hansen makes a great pair for any at-home touch ups, emotional acts of rebellion, or for anything in between.

Sally Hansen's Ingrown Be Gone

This next product isn't sexy, but for those of us who suffer from frequent ingrown nails it's totally worth the investment. I can often get them in between summer pedicures, and I deal with them in my very own caveman sort of way. When this kit slid across my desk this afternoon, I got really excited. The only other person who gets this excited about ingrown toenails is my podiatrist. Anywho, this kit comes complete with a pointed nipper tool for getting right to the root of the problem, plus a dual ended tool for making sure that it never happens again. Spare yourself the pain and pick this kit up unless your podiatrist is remarkably sexy.
